Ok, well I don't do it very often at all, but the other day as I was pulling around to help a buddy jump him car, I stalled it. Like I said, I rarely stall, but I have done it before in the past, and every time I try to restart, it struggles. Turn the key and it keeps trying to start up, but it takes a while until it actually turns over and starts up.

Does it always do this? It's not too much of a problem because like I said, I rarely stall, but if I ever did stall in an intersection, I'd be in big trouble. Any reason it doesn't want to start right back up?

what do you mean? it wont crank for a bit after it stalls? or it turns over, but doesnt catch? pull your codes, they will likely tell you something needs to be attended to. possibly a weak fuel pump, or something as simple as a tune up.

Without more precise information, the problem can be many things. A little more detail and the codes you are getting.

My car does this too, and I have no idea why. It usually won't start until I pump the gas peddle a couple times, and then the car runs really rough for a few seconds once it catches. The symptoms match those of a flooded engine :nut: . When this happens, the engine turns over strong, it just wont catch. Only codes I get on my computer are

KOEO: 219 (Spout Circuit Open Defaulted 10 degrees below dead center), 542 (BS Fuel Pump Code)

I think the 219 code is from the faulty alternator talked about here due to the fact the car runs like a top and the SPOUT circuit is definately not open. I just recently replaced the alternator - I will check later this week to see if the 219 code is gone for good.

Fuel pressure on my car is fine, fuel filter is new, plugs are new, O2s are new, MAF has been replaced, engine has been regrounded.

I remember my 92 would do this. It would crank and crank like it was flooded. There was a recall on the starter...it was not spinning the engine fast enough and the engine would flood. I put the upgrade starter in and it improved a lot.

There's not much more I can say. Not much detail to it. After it stalls, you turn the key and it cranks and cranks, but won't start up for the longest time even when pumping the gas pedal. No problem on regular start ups, just after stalling.

Forgot to mention, put a brand new bosch starter in a year ago, so I doubt it's a starter problem. Plus if it was a starter problem, it would happen on regular starts as well, not just after stalling.

Never had a CEL or anything, so would there still be any codes?

My SHO does the same thing. I about dropped a deuce in my pants the first time I stalled and it wouldn't start back up.

Next time it happens, press the gas to the floor firmly while cranking. That will clear the excess fuel and it'll fire right up. :thumb:

I've had this same problem on my 92 and 95. I try not to burn up the clutch too much and as a result, I stall from time to time (rare but it happens) and it'll turn over strong for a good 20 seconds or so. Once it starts, it idles very roughly but after idling for about 10 seconds, it's fine. It seems that for some reason when the car stalls, some sensor is thrown off which makes it hard to start up again....weird (I almost soiled my pants too when it happened to me for the 1st time  )
