happened tonight. drove the car home from work, and it was fine. get in it tonight to drive to see New Moon, and it's an absolute pain in the ass to get into those two gears. 1st, 3rd and 5th are fine, and i only used reverse twice, which didn't seem to have an issue. thoughts?

yeah, checking fluid is on the to-do list...turns out reverse is a pain, too, leading me to believe it might be shifter related...

or mounts, or subframe bushings. time for exploratory surgery, one of my favorite troubleshooting techniques.

Shifter problem is my first guess.

Don't forget to look inside the shifter box when you take it all apart.

Could be you're tranny syncros! Have you ever rebuilt the trans??

EDIT: not to scare you, but i had the same exact problem. I kept driving it, skiping over 2 & 4 until the tranny finally went BOOM! I wouldn't drive it anymore until you find a spare trans, or have the doh to have new syncros put into the one you've got.

turned out to be the stabilizer rod come loose from the trans. the boss broke years ago, and the quick fix i did on it finally gave up. got it taken care of. as for New Moon, i've been a fan of the Twilight saga ever since my stepdaughter dropped it on my lap 3 years ago.
