I noticed this during my mad crazy Christmas shopping adventures.. Most of the time it happens is when I reverse, then click into drive, and accelerate firmly (~1/2 throttle)
Also this happens in cold running conditions.

Is this a problem sign? shrug

EDIT-------------
Also it happens when I easily accelerate, then suddenly give it more gas. (Ex- Giving more gas to catch a green light)

A trait observed on all SHO AX4N's I have come in contact with is that when the ATX is cold the first 1-2 shift will be noticeably hard. After welding my cams and reconnecting the battery, ran the car for a minute or two, changed the oil. Ran it for another few minutes after changing the oil, and letting it learn the idle. Pulled out of the driveway at my dads where we welded her (he lives way out in the sticks) and threw it to the floor to "train" the PCM. Car scared the sch1t outta me when it hit the limiter at the end of first then after I freaked out and took my foot out of it it did it's hard shift into second. After that all was well.... That was about 25K ago..

My determination: Until the ATX shifts into second gear pressures in the valve body must be out of whack. Immediatly after it's first shift into second I can stop and she'll grease right on into second the next time it is called for.

Both the 96 and 99 we have do this hard shift into second when the car has been sitting for a bit (doesn't take along time). Many other owners have reported the same behavior. Doesn't sound like yours is a sign of impending doom, but you never know when the ATX will puke... Of course check your fluid (hot & idling in Park).
