Ok I will try and keep this to a minimum.

Spun rod bearing, going to remove engine and rebuild. After many hours of thought and inspecting my car I decided to rip the whole subframe out and do it all, rebuild engine, replace rack, replace half shafts, all hoses, and bushings. Basically what ever I find wrong or what ever I dont like will get replaced. That and clean everything.

Its a 93 ATX, I have read all I can on replacing halfshafts both here and in the book. I still have yet to find an answer regarding the my question.

Before I drop the subframe I was going to pull both halfshafts. Can I do this?Or do I have to replace them one side at a time due to something coming apart or falling internally. I have read something about a shipping brace, unsure what the **** that looks like. So any help would be great.
