That's a first that I am reading of.....

Can't recall even once over the last 8yrs that I've heard of that one.

You can likely claim the title for the first twisting seat.

Sounds like something you might be able to correct. The pivot must be bound on one side. Cannot say I have ever heard of that on any make or model.

European cars see this at GREAT frequency, nvr heard about in an American car.

I had it happen to me on most notably my Saab 9000 CDE and on a friends Bimmer. On my Saab the twist was SEVERE.

What happens is the cable that rotates while the recline button is pressed gets gummed up/corrodes/breaks over time and only one side reclines while the other is stuck in the position that it was at when the seat position was last . It was so common that my Saab had a tool in the tool kit and instruction in the repair manual on how to manually move the seat back if this were to happen.

The cure is to remove the seat back and either **** a seized cable or more intensely, disassemble the seat and replace the cable itself.

This is usually a uniquely European problem because Most domestic cars use gears and motors.

Went to the dealer yesterday so they could look at the seat , couldn’t see anything out of normal. From under and back of seat So they ordered a new seat back and all components need to operate the seat. Looks like the gears or hinges are built right in the sides of the seat backs. Probably go back on Tuesday for the fix. Happy but not happy they gotta take all the covers off the seat and then put back on heh these mechanics are no upholstery guys. BETTER look like new still when done. They have never seen this happen before either. I said just give me a new seat. They said ford is penny pinching never happen. If the rip my seat it will

Just an update - dealer put the new seat back on new motor and drive rod with the new coupler and THE PLASTIC PIECE that breaks and the coupler comes out which is no longer connecting to the gear on that side. Which then only moves one side of the seat. Sorry don’t know all the technical terms for these parts. Just no it’s kinda, no it is a dumb design. Works like a champ now though, and they put my seat covers back on perfect just like new !
