Pluggin' away
Well, as reported in a previous thread, I successfully changed the radiator in my SHO over the weekend....but apparantly, the ECT must have been damaged when the radiator burst and the cooling system went a little wacko. My problem was that after the install the cooling fan would not kick on automatically...it worked fine when I used the A/C and even clicked on during the EEC self test, but would not go on to cool the engine automatically. I did a search of this forum and I saw that this problem has happened to a few other SHO owners before who did radiator or heater core repair jobs, so I knew the ECT was the suspect. (I also changed out the T-stat while I was digging around under there).
Anyone who has ever cared one iota about their motor knows the sweet sound of the cooling fan kicking on when it's supposed to! thumb
I'm wondering, does anybody have any ideas on how or why the ECT seems to go bad after a cooling system component malfunction? Is it that the sensor starts getting readings that are way out of whack, and just can't handle it and dies, or what?
Thanks for any feedback ...have a good one!
