Hey guys...

the ac pully seized up on the 91 and cooked teh belt...I figured this would happen eventually, but kept putting it off.

I gotta remove the AC compressor now.

Are the proper belts a regular stock item at your local parts shop?

Solid State,

The pulley bearing is available for thr 91 model year as a replacement part. Why are you removing the A/C compressor because of a bad bearing in the pulley?

The pulley, with a new bearing, is available as a separate replacement part also.

If you have A/C problems you can unplug the low pressure switch or the aA/C clutch coil connection to prevent the compressor from engaging. Then the A/C pulley acts like an idler pullet. rangerj

Where would these plugs be? My A/C system has been out for a long time (I don't know whether I have just low freon, leaks, bad compressor, etc...) and I never thought to unplug it so it's not trying to engage when my wife starts blasting the vents...
Thanks,

the AC in this car doesn't work, and the pully was seized on there so bad that I couldn't even get teh clutch out of it.

I am removing all the AC lines.

Anyone know the length of the required belt?

I completed the removal of the AC compressor tonight.

I used a 41" belt for my 91, but I think a better fit would be a 40.5.

The car is a lot smoother, seems to be more power, and the gas milage is much much better.

Autobahnsho,

The low pressure switch is on top of the accumulator dryer near the battery. The electrical connection at the A/C clutch coil can simply be unplugged. Either will prevent the a/C compressor fron engaging as either will deprive the clutch coil of electrical power. rangerj
