How many grounds are there on the intake manifold?

Also here is the way I got the vacuum ran!It was not pinched at all under the intake, and I didnt hear or see any leaks!

There is ONE ground to the intake, looking from the front of the car, it's on the passenger side (left) rear of the intake. A 15mm nut secures it to the 19mm stud.

I don't know on your secondaries question, but on yours if you move the throttle by hand to rev the engine up you'll see it move if it's hooked up properly.

Below the oil sending unit could be an oil low sensor?? (not at all sure.)

The secondary is open in that picture. Thats the way it should be when the engine is off and when you start up the car that little tab should move to the up position.

Ok the ground is all set then!

When I hit the throttle the BACK one opens right away, not at 3900 rpm's!

technically there are 3 intake grounds and 1 of them is the intake-to-body groundstrap. the two bolts in the crossover tube are grounds for the DIS. i found out the hard way not having good contact on *both* of these will make your car do odd things over 4k rpms

hmmm...i think i have some paint where those 2 bolts connect! My problem is all before 4k though! That could be part of the problem..I bet the most part is with the secondaries not working!

The intake grounding has nothing to do with the secondary butterflies -- they are vacuum controlled. If they are not closing when the engine is running and staying closed until 3950 RPM, then you have a vacuum problem.

The routing in your pictures is incorrect. The hose coming from the vacuum accumulator to the IMRC should be on the lower fitting (or top in your upside-down picture), and the upper hose (or lower in your picture) should be routed to the tee to the butterfly actuators. IOW, the two connections on the IMRC are reversed.

If properly installed, the entire intake is grounded via the strap on the rear intake bracket on the passenger side to the chassis. The two brackets that connect the crossover tube to the plenums serve to complete the ground path through the rest of the intake. If you painted the intake, it's imperative to have those brackets, along with the points at which they mount to the plenums and heads, and the screw holes for the DIS module all be paint-free and have good clean metal-to-metal contact.

In the future, please try to keep a single problem (or set of problems) in a single thread. It will make helping you easier! Thanks! :)

I think Mr. Anonymous hit the nail on the head. The plug you asked about goes to the egr system and thus is not used on your car. That plug and another black rectangular plug by the airbox.

Ok ill attempt to help. All the vacuum lines should have "#X" printed on them. like #1 or #4 all the way up to #6.

#1 hose should come from rear of intake plenum to the ****** closest to the firewall on the vacuum accumulater.

#2 should come from ****** closest to the intake plenum on vacuum accumulater, to the ****** on the left (when you are looking at the IMRC with the electrical connection on the RIGHT) to what you labeled as "IMRC"

#3 should come from other ****** on IMRC (one to the right or closest to the electrical connection), to the TEE underneath the intake manifold.

NOTE: in your pic your TEE looked just like mine did, so I routed the TEE the "RIGHT" way, can anybody comprehend what Im talking about? I put the incoming hose on the vertical ****** of the TEE and the 2 horizontal ******* go to the butterfly actuators.

#4 should go from TEE to rear butterfly actuators

#5 should go from TEE to front butterfly actuators

And #6 goes from fuel pressure regulater to front intake plenum.

Then you got the 2 big vacuum hoses, one goes on that fitting on the back pass. side of intake, and the other goes underneath the Throttle body.

Just so I dont leave any out, dont forget about the hose that goes from the front of the Throttle body to the front valve cover. And that little one that comes from the IAC and connects to a little black thing that goes to the front of the car.

Hope this helps.

Ryan

Heres a pic of the IMRC, the way I am describing it.

Here is a pic of the accumulator, the way I am describing it.

Like myfirstsho said, look at the pictures he posted. You've got the vac lines on the IMRC backwards from the looks of it. But its still troubling that only one set of secondaries is moving with teh application of the throttle.

Did you paint the entire secondary assembly without disassembling it? Some of those moving parts were not meant to have paint on them...
