I joined yesterday because I was going to look at a 93 atx. Today I am going back to pick it up and yes I will finally have my very own SHO. It is 18 years old and it has many of the anticipated problems described here, but it still jumps when you step on the gas and the leather interior has not a single rip. I can find a lot to love about it--mostly because it is mine. with 115k on the stock motor I figure with a little tlc I can put another 100 on it before it dies! What a feeling!

Welcome to the family. Enjoy your SHO and get involved with the forum and it's many diverse areas. The search function is a great tool to use for questions and research. Here is a link to an announcement from Bizzy(the forum leader) about the Search Tool. Also check the "Sticky" topics at the top of each "Quick Link" as they offer a lot of general information and answers to general questions. Good luck and jump on in, the waters fine! :salute:

Where are you in Arizona. There are knowledgeable folks scattered around that are quite helpful.

As mentioned, the transmission is really the weak point. I've got about 215K miles on my motor and she's still quite strong. There are others that have far eclipsed that mark.

Are you sure it's only 115k? If the service records are spotty, it might be worth it to swap your rod bearings, as that is a known weak area on poorly maintained motors. The job really isn't that bad, even with the motor in the car.

Also, do you know if the 60k (oops, 100k, as it's an ATX) has been done?

ha, you think 115k is bad try mine with 313k. I would love to have an engine with 115k.
