Nope.......had 18x8's on my 92.........lowered also and no rubbing.

It also depends on the wheel offset somewhat. Gen1's also have less fender clearance and may require rolling the inner fender for room.

EDIT: I should also mention that it depends on how low the back of the car sits as well (stock springs worn springs, lowering springs, coilovers, etc). FWIW, I understand that tires tend to rub more on the front of the fender arch on a gen2 moreso than the tops. This makes sense as this part is closer to the tire than the top of the fender is. I've heard of people trimming back the plastic end cap on the gen2 ground effect for more room.

My 17x8 Hock R's (40mm offset) rubbed on the previous owner's 94. There is a nice gash in the sidewalls of his Pirelli P7000 SS (235/45/17) to prove it. As I have a 93 with the same sheetmetal, I plan on rolling my fender to prevent this from becoming an issue. The only problem is trying to figure out if I want to wing it with a dremel and a baseball bat, keep looking for a bodyshop that will do it (fruitless so far) or just buy or rent the $300 tool that make this a snap?

If you do a google search for fender rolling, you'll get some hits to entrepreneurial individuals who have purchased this tool and have recouped the cost by renting it out to people. Unfortunately, it usually requires a $300 deposit along with the rental fees. While this makes sense and the deposit is refundable, part of me feels that if I'm going to shell out the money for the deposit, I may as well just buy the thing and rent it out too! :)

The Tirerack and Eastwood both sell the tool. I'm sure there are others. The cheapest that I've found it is for $250. Just to update, I did mount the 17x8 Hock R's and they haven't rubbed yet. However, I can see how they easily could. I am considering rolling the rear fenders before my fenders shave my tires.

So if you buy it, can I borrow it? ;)

How about a $15 Harbor Freight 4" angle grinder and just grind that ***** down?

Last time I did the fender rolling thing I used aviator tin snips and cut the lip every couple of inches from end to end on the fender and then whacked the lip flat with a hammer. Didn't even bother to paint, prime, or otherwise protect the molested metal. Hey, I was in my 20's. Did it with my 90 Camry and with my 91 Camry, both worth a heck of a lot more than my SHO with perfect bodies and paint. Insurance company gave me $7000 for the first one when a drunk teen in an SUV, leaving the county fair while I was returning from some hiking, minding my own business forced me to choose between a head-on that would total the car and me or clipping his right rear with my empty passenger side which would total the car but not me. Chose option number 2. The insurance adjuster even let me pull all my suspension upgrades and the 3 remaing good tires/wheels. Did the fender
rolling thing again, the same way, with the 91 Camry I bought, with lower miles and more options (fully loaded vs. the 90 stripper) for $7000. When the wife hydroplaned off the freeway into a light pole which crushed the roof (wife, myself, and dog walked away without a scratch) the insurance company gave me $7000 miles for that one.

Ghetto using the tin snips and hammer? Perhaps. I did it with two good looking (lowered with the 16" MSW type 55's those cars looked really good) valuable cars. After the cut and whack I had two cars which remained good looking and valuable. My thinking is it worked well enough for me there it's good enough for the SHO. I do get more **** about the details with the SHO thanks to thought fodder via the internet however so I can understand the desire to get the $300 tool and hesitation to cut and hammer.

Don't blame me if you decide to cut and bang and it doesn't work out. I haven't trimmed my 89's lips yet so my positive experiences may or may not apply to the SHO.
