Hi guys, I’m in a bit of a financial pickle.
Still working on cars. I currently have a 6 week backlog and rarely have a day off. It would be nice to retire at 73, but the only way I can afford stay in the San Francisco Bay area is to supplement my Social Security with car income.

At the beginning of March my son Ben got T boned in my ’91. He wasn’t injured:

That leaves my ’90 as the only car between us. Trouble is, I always have a tight cash flow, and I don’t have any spare money to buy a replacement.
I’ve entered into negotiations with a guy in Concord to buy his ’91 for $2,000. Only has 141K on it, in great condition. I’m currently doing a front end rebuild on it:

To raise the money I’ve set up a GoFundMe page. I’ve added $1,000 to the purchase price to cover DMV fees and fixit costs. Funds needed ASAP: The seller is in the Navy who is only on shore leave for another week:

I’ll also be asking my clients for the last 5 years, the BaySHO club and a couple of Facebook pages:
Gen 1 & 2 Taurus SHO (1,066 members)

I’m highly active on those sites as well as I have been on SHO Forum in the past, and I hope that the advice I give has been appreciated.
Anything you can give will be most appreciated. And if the GFM goal of $2,000 is already reached, please don’t let that deter you!

I'm 73 years old. If the work I'm doing is strenuous, I tire quickly and can only put in around four hours a day. I don't work nearly as quickly as I used to.
My hourly rate is $60. I work out of the garage in a house where I rent a room so I don't have a shop overhead, and a lot of my clients have SHOs as their daily drivers. They aren't rich either: keeping my rate low helps them out.
The Bay Area is a very expensive place to live in, but all my friends and family are here, and where I've been for the last 39 years. Once I can't work on cars any more, I will have to move away. I'm hanging on here as long as I can. And I don't want to let down my customers who have been relying on me for so many years. AFAIK I'm the only full time specialist on the West Coast.
My car work supplements my Social Security. 75% of that goes towards paying my rent. Rule of thumb is that housing costs shouldn't be more than a third of one's income. I have no savings, no credit card and no debt.
