so im getting ready to pick up a 97 with 100k on it, its real clean in and out, never owned a gen 3 before so i know the biggest issues is getting the cams welded. the owner now is a tow shop and he knows nothing of the cars history, anyway to tell if the theres any issues with the cams by noises or anything other then removing the valve covers? anything else to look out for, going tonite to look it over and test drive it

Only way to tell is to yank a valve cover. But then, you're not too far from NESHO, either. let Kirk have his way with it.

they make any noises if there starting to go bad or ?... i really wanna pick it up cause the price is rite and its super clean, but with all the cam issues with the gen3's its like i shouldnt waste my $$ unless i know there done, cause im sure it would be a few months easy before id be willing to drop any $$ on it to get the cams welded, especially with xmas around the corner here

if it ticks, stay away from it. Otherwise, snag it up, limit the miles until the cam welds, then start saving for a tranny.
