I just got a call from the dealer. The wiring harness for the transmission is destroyed. The dealer says its due to the same accident damage the broke the radar sensor, and its not warrantied. Car fax listed an accident. It also said there was no structural damage.
The dealer said i need a new wiring harness and even then the trans may be smoked. Its also going to be expensive. Im pretty much screwed here, I dont have the cash to fix it. if i drive it im risking ruining it further. the service writer advised i call the sellign dealership and see what they will do, I did that, and the finance manager isnt their, but the sales manager promised they would "fix it" but considering their treatment so far im less than confident

Not sure how the wiring harness could get destroyed unless you got a salvage car or a rebuilt car to begin with. Time to talk to an attorney, if Ford continues to say they can't help with the selling dealership.

I called the selling dealership, got the sales manager as the finace guy wasnt their. He promised they would take care of it, and that i need to call the finance manager tomorrow to get it sorted out. Im not hopeful given the past issues, but we will see. if they dont fix it im getting a lawyer.

Does it have electric power steering my 16 will pull to the left when I'm in heavy traffic as if the car thinks it knows better... Oddly seemed after switching off on the driver assist it stops... Also if you go off the road it will **** back to get on the road. First time I noticed it was when I drove over a spot of road that had been cut out and filled with gravel thought something was wrong with the car.
Hope everything works out for you.

Also if the front springs are not mounted right when you turn hard it will keep want to turn that direction so maybe the accident messed with it

Honestly I don't know, Car fax listed no structural damage from the accident, but if it was bad enough to mangle the trans harness then it was a really solid hit.
Now im worried regardless of whether the seller fixes the trans that a number of other issues aren't going to be ruled out as "collision" damage.

one thing, though, the dealer did notice the rough idle, but I wasn't paying to have them diagnose it. I already have a $360 bill to pay.

So I got a call from the dealer I took it to for service. I have been STRONGLY advised to take it back to the seller. their comments: Its at least a $2000 repair for the trans, a $1700 par for the cruise control, and the car is running really bad. the bad running may or may not be a result of the crash and may or may not be covered by the warranty. I was also told the warranty is all screwy saying ive owned the car since 2010.
Ive been trying to reach the finance manager, left a message, had the secretary leave my number, not getting anywhere. Im driving up there when I get off work. The servicing dealer is providing a writeup for me as well.

Drove up to the dealer yesterday finance manager gave me the "i cant do anything" spiel. took the day off work and went back up their today and spoke to the GM. He says he wants to help, but that he wants his techs to look it over (fair enough) i had the car towed (thank goodness for nationwide road side assistance) to them. Should know in a few days. I was told there are 3 scenarios, they can work with the warranty people and get it covered, 2. they find out its something else, 3. 50/50 split.
Option 3 isnt going to happen the least of the reasons being im 22 and i dont have a spare $2000 dollars lying around, not to mention i shouldnt be paying for someone else accident.

Im going to give them the chance to make it right, then im calling ford corporate and the BBB, worst case scenario,
Levittown ford has the parts for essentially half price 1167 for both vs 2300 and theyre OEM.

Worst case scenario, nothing happens i cant sue, etc. My fathers an ASE certified master tech, Ill either get him to patch the harness (if possible) or spend the $360 and have him install it and HOPE its whats wrong with the trans.
I really dont know what im going to do at this point, the warranty coverage is a 50/50 shot at best, but without it i KNOW im stuck with any bills.
I want to talk to the laywer but i know once i laywer up ive lost any goodwill from ford or the dealer, and if i actually dont have legal options... well then im screwed.

Tough situation :( Many lawyers will give you an initial consultation for free, see what you have by way of documentation, and let you know what they think your options are. So you can work this in parallel if you want.

You don't have any goodwill with Ford or the dealer, so don't worry about loosing it.

Dealing with a lawyer will not be a pleasant experience either, unless you know of one already who is fair and inexpensive.

The best option is to un-do the entire deal. That would be a long shot and would require a lawyer for sure.

The car was bought ... well, I was told It had a 1000 mile warranty when I got in then it was as is, I don't have a copy of the buyers guide ( I should have insisted)
Either way there is an implied warranty because I bought the ford plan.

No lemon laws because the car is used.

Its been at the dealer since Thursday evening, I called yesterday around 10 and spoke to the GM, he said he was told that service confirmed everything wrong with the car and that it would cost him 5k to fix it. Then I talked to the service manager who told me they cant reproduce the problem or find the wiring harness damage. Naturally I asked her why the GM told me the opposite, and was told "Miscommunication". of course I then asked how they weren't experiencing the problem that the 3 separate techs noted at the other dealership, and that I can reproduce every time I drive the car. I got back " I don't know" . She asked if one of the techs could drive the car home, I agreed. there was more arguing about the fact that my warranty wont cover cruise control sensor regardless of if it was collision damage because its "Broken" and itd be due to wear and tear. (I argued back for a while on that before giving up) I called the dealer that diagnosed it, gave them her number and asked that the tech call her and tell her EXACTLY where the wiring harness is damaged.

If I am told today they cant find anything Im calling ford corporate. because there are two possibilities, The seller is completely incompetent with their service department, or one of the dealers is lying about the damage. I am not paying to figure out which.

I am so fed up at this point. Clearly something skeevy is going on.
