Has anyone had any luck with getting the koni inserts rebuilt? I did a search, but didn't find much. Can it be done by the DIY'er or should they be sent to Koni?

I have a set on my blue 94 that I would like to get rebuilt, or at least considering it. One of them, the adjustment tab is broken off flush. It is still there, but no tab for the **** to turn. And they are set to full firm, but don't feel firm, at least compared to the red 94.

Anyone have any to sell, if so, PM me, don't post it here, please.

Any thoughts?

We still have new front sets if you need only fronts.

Rebuilding the actual insert is not a DIY'er job. There are a couple companies in the country that will do the rebuild work. If you email me at MIKE at SHOSOURCE dot COM I will get you connected.

Thanks

Mike

They came on the car I got. Not sure if Anthony (gdsqdcr) bought them new or used. He may not even have the reciept. Who knows, hopefully its in the folder of paper work that I am getting this weekend.

Thank you, though

that is something that everyone should do. Good record keeping with receipts can save you and the next owner hundreds. I have a folder for each car i have owned. To me the receipts are almost as important as the title. With our cars "life time Warranty / limited life time Warranty " on parts is always a good thing. Most of the time all the information that you would need for the warranty will be in with the receipts from the P.O.

I think your best bet is to contact Koni NA to see how much it will cost to have it rebuilt. It will most likely be around the cost of a new one - which is great except they aren't made any more :madflame:

I know this hasn't been posted in in awhile..

I just received the paper work in the mail on the blue SHO I just purchased. From what I can deduce, is that the koni's on the car have around or over 100k on them. I also found the original receipt from when the owner of the time bought them from SHOShop back in 2001.

When there is an authorized Koni rebuilder (such as the one mentioned above), would they honor an original purchase receipt to do a rebuild, IF an individual was NOT the original purchaser?

I dont know about Konis specifically, but I will say that most warranties are "non-transferable".

Meaning the warranty doesnt transfer to the new owner when the item is sold by the original purchaser.

Edit....

As I assumed...
the KONI warranty is a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser

Thank you. Not exactly the answer I wanted, but, kinda what I suspected.

I just got mine rebuilt and there was no warranty however they guy said they should be good for around 50,000 miles. Having said this my struts are some manufacturer such as Monroe with Koni inserts. If you need to talk to someone to guys guys that did mine in Ohio, just let me know. They can put them on a dyno and check them if need be. I believe it was $30 a strut.
