Ok, I know this thread is for a SHO not an SLO. Please bear with me. My buddy's gen3 1997 GL or G edition has got some tranny problem. When the car is taken out of park and into gear the car revs wicked high then violently throws itself into gear and spins the tires. If the car comes to a complete stop and then give it gas, the car feels like its slipping and stills revs, throws itself into gear and may or may not suddenly repeat the cycle. I see no apparent leaks, engine idles and runs good, but the tranny could use a little fluid. Could a little bottle of seafoam help and wash it down with a little ATX fluid? I looked at the possible throwing of a code but my OB2 reader is getting absolutely nothing back from the computer. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks.

Sounds more like a sensor issue rather than the tranny. How's the TPS voltage with the key on and throttle closed? Should be just under 1V.

Thanks for the tip. I checked the voltage and it was in spec. It turns out the tranny haddn't been taken care of for so long, that gears 1,2,and 3 were completely or damn-near destroyed. This was found out at the shop. And yet another poor Taurus bites the dust....Thanks!---Alaric
