I found this thread here, but thought I would start a thread with a more apt title. I'm adding an accessory air-horn to the engine-bay (likely inside the grille area), and am looking to fish an RJ-11 style control-cable through the firewall. Any suggestions other than those mentioned? Is there actually access near the accelerator as mentioned?

Here's the suggestions from the other thread:

1. " . . . I have seen some route through the grommet under the wiper cowl. I have 1/0 through the drivers side firewall."
2. " . . . throttle cable-plate to the right of the gas pedal."

Any photos of the above locations? Thanks!

If the wire is small you can go by the throttle. Anything 4GA or bigger, you're better going under the wiper plastic cover.

Thanks a lot! It's relatively small-gauge if you remember what modular telephone cables look like. I had a look around the firewall under the driver's-side dash. Nothing seemed obvious, but I'll try your tip and check again—thanks!

I'll see if I can find some old pics but I believe there's a grommet very close to the gas or brake pedal. I remember pulling something up to expose it (carpet I believe). I ran 14GA wire though it for a sub before realizing it wasn't enough for me and pulling it all out to start over.

This thread talks about it and there are some photos someone posted going under the wipers, as well as a link to another post showing the same thing (different person).

I have worked in IT for 35 years, @Ecoboost_xsport has the trick I have used for many years snaking network cables in case you need help. Might also provide ideas. Check out his post here:

any openings that traverse the firewall should be sealed properly after the work is complete. interceptors had issues with carbon monoxide entering the passenger compartment because the departments were making modifications and failed to reseal the openings correctly.

FYI. Police Interceptors have an enlarged, dedicated passthrough on the passenger side firewall. Very easy to see and reach.
