So to be on the safe side to new recall kits should be bought when replacing the SFB front and back?

One more question I have is, about the "alignment" tool, why is it needed? Wouldnt lining up all 4holes for the SFB's be aligned enough?

Crawl under there and look at the subframe and the body right next to the front SFBs. You will see the alignment holes.

Just installing the bolts isn't enough. The steering rack is mounted to the rear crossmember of the subframe. If the subframe is skewed or offset, your toe alignment will be off or the steering wheel won't be centered anymore, necessitating an alignment to correct for the mis-aligned subframe. Far better to align the subframe properly first, then perform a front end alignment if it is indicated.

Do you align with all 4 bushings in and semi-tight or while installing the rears or fronts? Any specific order in tightning them?

I aligned mine with all four corners installed but loose.

I don't believe there is a specific sequence for tightening. I did my fronts first to make sure they were aligned, then torqued the rears.

Read this post and am wondering how do you know when your sub frame bushings need replacing. I have a 94 with 81k miles. what exactly is the benefit of the replacement?
thanks

I think just visual inspection to determine when they need replaced. You should notice a little difference in steering performance and ride quality.

Whenever I mess with my subframe I always leave two bolts tight. This way you don't lose your alignment.
