My wife hit the hitch of a UHaul trailer. The guy in the UHaul STARTED to pull out, then changed his mind... my wife, behind him, assumed he went. Slow speeds, but the hitch did some damage. I will post a pic. later. Sickening, to say the least.

I bought my SHO from a junkyard and had to get an aftermarket front bumper when I fixed it up. I'll tell you though, It wasn't a walk in the park to get that to fit right... After some patience ( ) it looks great.

The clear sidemarker is an add-on, they originally came with the orange ones.
:D Thanks for the compliment, your black SHO looks really sharp as well. Hope you can get a hold of a front bumper, if not I ordered mine from CertiFit.

My 3 year old daughter made it "all better" with the band-aids :)
I don't think the picture does it justice... does this LOOK like $1400 in damage?

I found a place on ebay that has them for $150 (plus $50 shipping)... how much was yours?

You may just need a bumper cover.

I've seen these things on e-bay recently. I believe they had buy it now prices of around $145. You'd need to have it painted though.

I do like the Ford emblem removal job the hitch. I've been thinking about debaging mine too. Ford doesn't deserve their name on this car after the whole cam fiasco.

$120 for mine. I checked, but I don't see a CertiFit in your location :frown:.

You won't find Ford anywhere on the outside of mine. Then again you won't find Taurus or SHO either.

Well, no offense intended, but I have 128K on mine, it is over 6 years old, and it has had no serious problems at all. I see nothing that Ford should be unhappy about and no real reason to remove their label from the car. In any complex machine of limited production, and our Gen III is just such a machine with only about 20,000 of them made, there are going to be problems that show up. It is unfortunate that the cam sproket problem is potentially very serious, but it is also pretty easily fixed, and not all that expensive compared to the initial cost of the car. The transmission problem that I hear a lot about is, I suspect, more use oriented than one of design flaw, but even here, nothing lasts forever.

It seems to me that many of us forget this car was designed to be a low cost, high performance sedan of short production run. As such, and assuming it is run hard, which a lot of them are because of its design intent, some things will go wrong, some things will break, and as on any car, some things will wear out. The youngest Gen III SHO is now about 6 years old. There will be a lot more going wrong and wearing out from now on. This is simply normal, not some plot by Ford. I have no problems with their name plate on my car, and removing it is not going to make it from a Ford into something else.

I don't blame Ford for the car, other than the cams. I blame them for having poor customer relations, inadequate dealer training and the fact that they have already discontinued important and proprietary parts for the car.

Hard to disagree with the customer relations and training, though my personal dealership support has been excellent. However, on the last, that is parts, I cannot say I am surprised, and in fact for a limited run car, part availability starting to be discontinued after half a dozen years past the last production unit is not all that strange. Certainly unfortunate, but part and parcel of the limited production run life.
