So I have been having problems with my alternator voltages and want to install a meter. I have seen tons of pictures but they have been on so many different locations on the web. I thought it would be nice if all our SHO friends had one place to look at pictures to get ideas. I've seen people relocate the climate control, radio, etc. I've seen the stereo volume controls modified to activate fog lights or back light the SHO symbol on the dash in front of the passenger. All great and ingenious ideas. So please, post away. Note it might be worth mentioning what your gauges are monitoring.

Why not just do this and have no interference with anything.

Pillar gauge pod

I just thought I would save the expense of the new pillar gauge pod. I definitely like the clean look of the gauges. Where do you get a new one? I haven't found anything but used and they seem to always be the wrong color.

who makes that gauge in the back?
I meant to make a post about this gauge but never got around to it. I got it from www.shonutperformance.com Its made my PLX. Its actually a LCD display that you can do so many things with its not funny. I have it set to Oil Pressure, Relative fuel pressure, engine oil temp, trans oil temp. You can change the display to watch any one item if you don't want to watch them all. You can also set warning on all the channels so that it will alert you if one goes outside a range you set.

You can also chart the units.

You can also look at the max variables as it will save them for you so you can look later.

There appears to be a large crack in that gauge pod. Is the gauge to big for the pod or did you damage it before hand.

It was a sun shade I added later on the lazy way. I didn't feel like removing all the wiring so I slit it and put it on. I was just thinking about replacing that this summer.

Here is mine
I love the huge transition when I hit 4k cause I ported and polished my secondaries by hand and not the primaries. whats funny is I have BBB with no butterflies in them yet I still get that sound. Sounds like VTAK!

Vacuum gauge

I like the gauges. Why do you monitor the vacuum in your car? Not trying to be silly. I see when you are at high RPMs, the vacuum goes to zero. I wouldn't know what the gauge is telling me I guess is why I ask. Thanks.

It can help with MPG, but mainly good vaccum tells you that you have a healthy motor and no vaccum leaks.

That seems high IIRC I don't remember ever idling over 20 on the stock engine. I would be lucky to get 12 now on the new engine.

I love that gauge! I have one in the STi, which I also got from Josh. I've been considering the new touch screen on for the SHO in order to get rid of 2 gauges.

so that PLX thing looks way cool but a little confusing for old guys like me -

what exactly would I need to buy to monitor vac/boost, oil pressure, afr, and coolant or trans temps?
