half-way there, I think.
I've been wanting to try this for awhile, but wasn't sure if it would work or not. This isn't a drop in place add on or a direct replacement. I had to do some cutting on the stock column cover to make this work.

Started with this.

Started out like this

Now looks like this

I threw in my bad A/F gauge to just make it look better...

Thoughts? Opinions?

I plan on replacing my mocha column covers with black ones or I might try painting them black. I've still have a little clean up work to do.

looks better that waht I was planning to do with just mounting a gauge cup in the middle of the column infront of my speedo.

Thats pretty sharp. I wish they made the insert for the SHO that puts two gauges in front of the others. I know they make them for civics and mustangs. To me, I think the best place for more gauges would be in the top corners of the existing gauge cluster.

The good side.

Like I said, I'm not done. Basically I got it to fit up. I'm going to trim this side to straighten out the line and do a little more touch up work to make it look better. I'm undecided on on painting the pod mocha or replacing the mocha column covers with black ones. I'm leaning to the latter.

That's an Autometer pod for a Mustang, right? I figured it would be a close fit and had planned on trying it myself. I was going to wait till this weekend and compare a friend's 95 Stang column to the SHO's now that he will be back from college.

Not really liking the fitment on the driver's side. Luckily I have a black interior, so it will blend in a little better.

it's to bad that the new one won't just mate up like a factory original. That would be kickass

Once I'm done, it will be hard to tell that it's not the right part. Like I have said, it's basically still in the test fit phase.

Looks good, I was thinking about doing something similar but making it with fiberglass and a single gauge pod. Is there anyway that the bottom part of the mustang cover would fit also? Also instead of painting the pillars, I'd leave them tan, but paint the column cover completely black, and use it as an excuse to get the Mustang FR-500 steering wheel! If you do go that route, you'll need the hornbuttons from a mustang, but other than that it completely bolts right in, I gave Ian Fisher(over on techsho list), the idea and he bought and installed one.
Another thought I've had of adding a gauge is where the headlight switch is. Its just about the perfect size and since we have autoheadlights, the switch can be located to another place that isn't so convenient since its not used very often.

I did a little trimming and this is how it turned out. I got another column cover and will be doing the finish work this weekend and should have the final product.

Here it is for now, I need to get factory black set of column covers. It looks pretty good right now. It looks better in person then in the pictures.

Terry, that looks kickass man. Does the angle of the wheel interfere with the guage at all?? I don't know how you sit but I need to slant down a little to see my speedo and whatnot, let alone the column.

Looks good, now - to get the rest of the interior peppered with black
