I tried searching on the above but can you guys tell me as explicitely as possible what i need to buy to:

1.Use with the felpro gasket set to sell my valve covers (what kind of gasket sealer? black blue etc)

2. If i am at autozone or pepbuys etc what kind of greas do i get for my sqeaky bushings if i have greasable fittings? Sygrease, marine grease? A brand name would be geat for a product that really works.

3. Do i use the above gasket sealer with my intake gasket when i take it off? I have been told its reuable and ford wants 40 bucks for the part..so i would like to reuse as i have heard i can...

Thank you so much

Regards
Brian

PS i posted this here and in the Open Forum not sure which it belongs under...

I used black RTV silicone on the cam covers....just a dab to hold it in place, and a small amount around the plug wells.......none needed on the intake gasket surface......and I do not believe there are grease fittings.

I have used the oxygen sensor safe Permatex Ultra Grey silicone for the valve cover seals. You should only put a dab of the silicone at the right angle corners of the passenger side camshaft seals and the front bank end plug (where the front exhaust cam would pass through the front of the engine). If your plug well seals are allowing oil to leak into the plug wells and you do not have a new set to install, you must remove the seals from the manifold, clean them of oil and apply the silicone to BOTH faces of the seals to prevent further leakage.
The intake manifold gasket is a spring metal gasket that is reuseable unless the black coating has been randomly chipped off. I would not use a silicone sealant on this joint. Replace the gasket if in doubt.

As for the bushings, it very much depends which bushings you are talking about. Metal to metal bushings? Use a wheel bearing grease. Polyurethane or rubber to metal, use a silicone-based grease.

Maybe i am calling the gasket the wrong thing. I am talking about the gasket that goes between the entire intake and the heads...not the piece in between the different parts of the intake. Is that gasket re-usable?

Yep, Scott and I reused mine. Just check it to make sure that it isn't broken anywhere.

Yes, that is the pair (one for each bank) of spring metal gaskets I was referring to in the previous post.

FYI:
Toyota makes a sealer P/N 00295-00102 to seal the oil pan to the block since they don't use a gasket - it is one of the strongest sealers i've seen.

The oil pan seal set for the SHO includes the molded rubber seals for the front and rear crankshaft penetrations and a tube of sealant for the side rails. I have a set that I just haven't gotten around to installing.

Ok did the 60K today since i have an auto that is basically the top stuff... Man i have a new appreciation for what a pain / labor of love this is.

However i could really use some help. Here is what i did and what i need you guys to help me trouble shoot please.

New thermostat, shims, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, etc...

Ok so now my car is leaking oil? Could this be "frame" or residual oil from the valve covers? It looks to be coming from the rear of the engine towards the middle...not a place i would expect the gaskt to have a problem. It leaks like 10-15 drops at shut down enough to leave a 3 inch diameter mark on a sheet of paper under the car.

2nd thing, the new thermostat seems to be working keeps the car at A in normal and blows really hot air (something my old tstat couldn't. However, My valve covers are getting HOT is this normal? Th eintake is warm but nothing compared to the valve covers...is it just i never have touched them before or is something wrong.

Thanx
