Have you had anything break on it yet? My roommate's dad has had GT in the shop on two occasions and had some guys flown out from Michigan or Illinois to fix the drive shaft that kept popping out of place....

The GT belongs to a good friend and is not mine although I wish that I could afford it. I only got to ride in it, drive it and have it in my garage for the night. He hasn't had any problems with it and it has about 3000 miles on it now. This Ford GT has put 547 horse power to the ground on a chassis dyno and is all stock. The Gen I 1990 SHO has 45k on it and I am the original owner and won't let it out of the garage to play because it might get dirty. And I still can't figure out how to get the pictures to show up on these posts.

Cool. Is he a hard driver? If so, I'm sure he knows about the problem with the air filter-to-blower corrugated rubber hose collapsing under hard acceleration. If he doesn't drive it hard, nevermind.

Ford GT Driving Style

My friend doesn't drive the car very hard but his youngest son does and there haven't been any problems with it. They will be racing it some time this year and some problems might crop up then. I only had it up to about 120 mph but it gets there very fast and is so smooth at that speed that it doesn't seem like you are going that fast. This car will get 25 miles per gallon if you keep the speeds below 90 mph. On our way to Las Vegas earlier this month the car did manage that from Tucson to Kingman. I drove my Pantera and another friend from Tucson had his Pantera on the trip also. Our trip to our annual Pantera gathering in Las Vegas was fun with the GT going along with us.

I've ridden in my roommate's, dad's GT. It's pretty fun. We want to race it against the SHO when I get the motor broken in :)

Next time he gets the car, I get to take the wheel.... And he already knows how I drive it. I drifted around a left hand turn at a stop light when he gave me the keys to the 911. Surprisingly, he wasn't nervous one bit.

Shoot, the best thing about my car is taking it out and getting it dirty. I love to drive the thing and take it to the track and car shows!

Ford GT Dreams

I won't be able to afford a GT but at least I have a friend that does. Trying to make anything go as fast a one of those things is almost impossible. I have a Pantera that, with a ton of money put into the engine, might give it a run up to about 170 mph. Our SHO is a car we bought new and never used very much but was fun to have for the few trips we took in it. Anyone is welcome here if they want to check out the SHO and some of the other stuff, but I only had the Ford GT in my garage for one night, but the bragging rights are worth a lot.

547 at the wheels huh? That goes along with the stuff I've heard. I know all 03-04 cobras put down a lot to the wheels compared the what they claim. Usually I think it's always more than 370 at the wheels, which is MORE than the 390 at the crank they claimed. Same thing with this 5.4 supercharged engine, they underrated it a lot! Thats what I like about supercharged ford motors. Plus it's sooo easy to mod em. :dribble:

Either way you still lucky. Ive only sat in a parked one, let alone ride along in one....To even say I might have the chance to drive one...Well, that would be fun

I havent had my shots yet, so my drool might be a biohazard if it got all over your SHO. Tom cant say enough good things about the Garage queen though, so I tend to believe him. Perhaps you will come watch us race on the 10th?

Garage Queen Condition

Thanks for the compliment about our 1990 SHO. We always try to keep it nice, although never as clean as it could be. I wish I could find the time to get to the Phoenix area and watch some of the SHO's race. We enjoyed the get together in Tucson last October and that was the last time the SHO was out of Willcox. Tom and the gang made us feel very welcome and it was my first time at a drag strip in many years. Things have changed quite a bit since my racing days.

Here is the photo of the Garage Queen's stall partner that gets driven much more. It was taken in Kingman four weeks ago on our way to Las Vegas. The white Pantera is mine and the Ford GT belongs to my friend and fellow Pantera owner. The yellow Pantera belongs to another close friend and club member. Non of these cars are as practical as a SHO.

Come on by. We don't have anything planned for the rest of the summer. Willcox is a little bit out of the way, like 200 miles southeast of Phoenix, but it is sure a lot cooler. Just let me know when so I will be sure to be around the house.
