hey guys... I'm new to the forum, I just bought a 1990 white mtx SHO... and when I start going from a stop it makes a weird crackling sound... I messed around with it a bunch, and you can't hear it at all from the outside... it only does it in low RPM... it doesn't do it in neutral or reverse... could this be because I don't have enough gear oil?... or an exhaust leak (I'm pretty sure there is one)...? thanks for your help guys...

"You got a nasty hole in your fuel rail. That's why your unloading in third." JK B. I think K is actually right on this one. That pickup coil or some coil of some sort. You need a professsional SHOer. SDPatt! Where are you!

Sounds are incredibly difficult to diagnose through a discussion fourm, but it may be the notorious SHO manual transaxle gear rattle. It comes from the cut of the gear teeth and is not a problem other than the possibly embarrasing sound. It probably would serve you well to check the level of the transaxle fluid and top it off with the recommended Type F or MERCON ATF. Search this Forum for the descritpion of the location of the fill/level check plug. Welcome to the Forum and good luck with your SHO.

And now.....you have had your wiring almost catch on fire? Have I got it right?
