94 3.2 has no power at full throttle. Let off throttle some and it takes off. New plugs and wires, fuel filter. Anyone have any ideas?

Have you pulled codes? A little more detail would help....with your discription it could be alot of things? Maintenance besides what you listed? What exactly do you mean by "no power"? What exactly does the car do? 3.2...is it an ATX or MTX?

from your description, there is a good chance its the tps, but pulling codes is always the first step to diagnosing a problem. if the tps is bad, there should be a stored code.

Quick test by disconnecting the MAF and driving it will tell you if it's fuel map related (sounds like it)

The intake was removed twice by 2 mechanics - once for the power steering pump replacement and second for the valve cover gaskets. Since it returned from shop, when you use up to 3/4 throttle, the car accelerates normally. When you floor it, it's like the car has a rag shoved in the throttle body (I checked for that) and the car barely accelerates. Let off the throttle a little, and it's like the rag has been pulled out. Checked the cable and everything, all is good. Checked for vacuum leaks or missing hoses, all is good. Car has had a code for a while for EGR valve (not sure of code number) long before this problem started. Seems to be related to intake removal as that's when it started.

I'll get the car from her and get the codes pulled to double check. The car is a 3.2 ATX as from the factory.

What will the car do if you disconnect the maf for awhile? I'm trying to figure out which sensor is bad. Some make the car run worse when unplugged, some do nothing.

no, im doing the test right now. its not the plugs, wires, cam sensor, ect, dis, coil pack , maf or barometric. still need to check knock sensor, maybe fuel injector, or pcm. fuel pump..

I'm having the same problem with my sho.(93 3.0mtx). I disconnected the maf and it runs great. Wot pulls with no hesitation at all, does this confirm the tps as faulty?

if unplugging the MAF makes it run better, you've got a dirty or bad MAF sensor. unplugging it causes the ecu to resort to a generic "safe" tune so the car stays running. also check the ground strap on the back of the intake and make sure the bolts holding the crossover tube down are good 'n tight.

TPS. Sounds like it to me. Oil or water in the plug wells would be across the entire power band. Not just full throttle.

I just bought the car, replaced the clutch, rear main, pan, valve cover/plug seals, new motorcraft plugs, new plug wires, fuel filter. I did not clean the maf, will try that when i get home next week. Pretty sure the ground wire is connected but I'll check. The car has only 120k on it, it just had the timing belt and water pump replaced before I bought it. The previous owner said it had a used engine installed one year ago. It would appear it was a low milage 91 or older engine as it still had the factory 9.25" clutch. And yes it was totally fried. I replaced it with the larger 9.75" clutch and flywheel. Any thoughts, thanks.

If you unplugged the Maf and it runs good then that is probably your culprit. Clean the Maf and report back.

With symptoms like that, dont forget to check for the obvious, vacuum leak ! And just because you dont hear one, doesnt mean there arent any there.

No vacuum leaks. I cleaned the maf plugged it in and still runs like crap. I'm assuming the maf is toast at this point. Would it be worth it to buy a larger maf or just stick with stock. Is it bad to drive the car without the maf plugged ib tell I get a new one?
