Removing a fuel pump in a SHO requires dropping the fuel tank or cutting a hold in the rear floorboard to gain access to the fuel pump assembly.
To remove the tank you need to remove the fuel filler neck. Slowly lower the tank by loosening the tank straps and when you have enough access disconnect the electrical connectors and fuel lines at the pump assembly. Then fully remove the tank by loosening the tank straps all the way.
Once the tank is down you need to remove the retaining ring by tapping it (IRC) counter-clockwise. Then you'll be able to remove the fuel pump assembly.
