My SHO has not been starting well lately. The fuel pump does not come on when it does not start, as soon as I hear it come on car starts right up. This has only happened when there is less than a half of a tank of gas and the car is parked on an incline (front end higher). When on flat ground this has not yet happened. Should I go ahead and replace the fuel pump?

In a word...yes. When you have hard starts it likely is the inline check valve INSIDE the fuel pump. It was on mine, and now with the new one, I get first crank starts all the time. You can get a 190 lph pump for under a hundred bucks shipped from this place in Dallas. Autoperformance Engineering is the site. I just don't remember the link. I'm here at work, and don't have access to my email..

Did you ever check the fuel pressure?Codes? It does sound like you need a new pump but there is no reason to replace parts when they don't need to be replaced. Is your car down on power? If you do end up replacing the pump good luck. thumb

If the fuel pump wasn't running when the key was turned ON, it could also be the ICRM's fuel pump relay not energizing. I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that the pump is the cause. Next time the pump doesn't run when the key is turned, let someone else turn the key while you tap (smack) the ICRM under the driver side of the radiator cover. If you hear a click in the module and the pump runs, the ICRM, and not the pump, was the cause. Replacing the pump won't correct this.

I had a poor connection at the relay on the drivers side fender that caused the pump to not run. I would verify that the pump is getting power first.
