Ok Heres the symptoms. Hessitent when idling and sometimes its hard to start and one time it started I put it in reverse and the tach dropped and died. And sometimes it wants to die ::tach drops again:: and I give it gas to stay running. I tested the fuel pump a month ago and he said it was good. Any input would be great.

Is there any noise coming from the fuel pump? I suspect that it's not the pump though. Sounds more like a CPS. Is the water pump leaking? Also, could be a fuel filter. How long since its been changed?

I'd be more inclined to say fuel pump. When the CPS goes, giving it gas won't keep it running.

I didn't get any codes either when my pump died. Though it sounded like a coffee grinder before it went completely. It also would be hard to start when parked on an incline and at times would want to die when stopped at a light or whatever when on an incline....like it just couldn't pump enough gas to the engine when faced uphill.

Good luck!

Hard starting and giving it gas to stay running? Sounds like a Camshaft Position Sensor. When the tach goes down, will it start with the tach at zero? How does it drive when the problem occurs? Sounds like CMP sensor or fuel pump.

Well the fuel pump makes like a grinding noise. It did this 4x when I turned off the key and turn AC on. But didnt do it when I started it and turned it off and back on. I just replaced the fuel filter.

a few questions

Have you checked fuel pressure?
Have you changed your fuel filter?
When did you get the car?
Do you have any paper records showing any maintience?

Those are the things that I would ask.

To me it shows the sings of a weaken fuel system. Componets that I would look at and change
check pressure
1. filter
2. FPR Fuel Pressure regulator
3. then the pump..

oh are you spark plug wells full of oil?

My pump went bad about 5k to 10k miles ago and those were exactly the symptoms that i was having, except for the grinding one. I had a really loud whine from my fuel pump. Then one day at the parts store getting prices for brakes, I got in my car, started it and went to back out got 2 feet and there went the fuel pump. doh headbang
