Anyone have a feeling about fuel pump life after it begins to sing (middle C), when fuel-level drops below 1/2 tank ? How about adding a little "top-cylinder ****" to gas ?

My feeling is change the pump. You can try and cheat around stuff but you also run the risk of doubling the replacement pump cost with a tow and missed work.

^^^^^^This. You can drop the tank or simply cut a trap door in the floor under the back seat. I opted for the trap door method. Put in hinges and a cam-bolt to secure it. Used foil tape to seal the edges.

I use strip caulk to seal mine but tape works too.
