fuel pump going bump.....

just was wondering,anyone else ever had a sho that the fuel pump makes a slight thump that is audible from the drivers seat when sittin in it with the car idling ? (might also do it at other times,but i can never hear it other than when idling.)
my friend who i bought the car off of put the pump in and he said it has done it ever since then....
car is a stock 91 mtx

Might be the tank is loose, or the tank straps were bent some on removal/replacement.

The pump shouldn't be moving around, it's attached to the ring at the top of the tank that twists to pull it out.

ok,perhaps i was a lil vague in my first post....
when the car is parked with the driver in it(like when you are sitting in the car waiting for someone to run an errand) with the car idling,in neutral(clutch in or out,doesn't matter),the car will audibly make a slight thump from the rear gas tank area(i can hear it very clearly b/c the car has no stereo system at all in it yet.)

again i am not driving the car at all when this is happening,except that it is running. the guy i bought the car off of noticed it and kept telling me about it after work all the time(we worked together at that time),ands i just thought he was a little crazy and was basically hearing things that weren't there.now that i own the car i can hear that lil thump,too.
