You'll need to take the spindle off the car and get a press.

Press the hub out of the bearing from the back.

Remove the retaining ring.

Press the bearing out of the spindle from the front.

Reverse is the opposite. Do your best to keep things nice and square and it'll go easier. Make sure to support the new bearing's inner race when you are pressing the hub back in to keep from damaging it.

Ok here is what I did. I beat the hub and beaings off. cut the "race" off with a tourch. then installing the repair kit from the parts house was a breaze. lightly beat the bearing in and impacted the hub in place. worked great.

and, if you really did it like you just described, you will get to do it again soon, because you brinelled the rolling elements in the bearing by "lightly beating" on them, and they are now on the short path to destruction.

I used the install tool from the parts house. its kinda a manual press. It was made to put these in. The new bearings are different them stock. here they are

Actually, that's just like stock, right down to a replacement retaining ring. You should have pulled parts out that looked just like that. The Taurus has used sealed bearings in the front since day one.

I dont know they fell apart comming out (were a pain to get out). The new ones went in very good and smooth. but the bearings that came out looked like regular wheal bearings like in my trailers and what not.

Yes, that's what they look like inside. You should be fine as long as you didn't beat on the inner ring when you installed them, and as long as you supported the inner ring when you pressed in the hub.

:thumb:

It would have been nice to replace that control arm while you had your spindle out!! That bad bearing was probably affecting your camber issues too. :)
