ok so like the title says when i put the car in drive and start to go it starts hooting or whistling if you will. and yes its proportional to speed but it stops after a few seconds. i checked the wheel for play because i suspected the bearings but it was fine. the brakes and rotor are new. i know for a fact i need a strut bearing and a slight toe adjustment. any ideas what it could be? thanks.

Check that the dust shield is not rubbing against the rotor. It may be the pad and rotor surface interface is causing the vibration that generates the noise. What brand of pads and rotors are installed? It will probably stop as the new rotor surface smooths over the miles.

hi Scott, ive been insanely busy, away for the weekend for a wedding and some issues at work. sorry about not replying sooner.

in the front i have albany pads with AZ rotors. im contemplating a 95 brake upgrade with some new bearings. if i dont go that way then im going to put on new calipers anyway as well as new bearings i think. ive had the pads/rotors on there for about 4000 miles now so i dont really know what i should think. theres no play in the wheel. it got better, and now its getting worse again so i dont know. i will check the dust shield today though. thanks!

those albany pads are CRAP. I used them on the rear of my 94 when I was stuck down in FL with rear brake problems. I wish I had just bought the PF ones. Man mine make all kinds of noise till they are warmed up. They squeak, and make noises that sound like bad wheel bearings.

I couldn't justify spending good money on rear pads till I do my 11.6 rear upgrade.
