My car has been a real dog the past week or so. It's been making some new clunks so I took a look. I did the motor mount test from shotimes. The test showed that my front mount was not doing it's job. A closer look showed that one of the 2 nut/bolts that hold the mount to the intermediate mount that bolts to the motor were missing. The nut was welded to the mount frame, and must've gotten sheared off. The remaining bolt was loose.

This mount is a shonut extreme mount. Luckily I have a toolbox full of sho engine nuts/bolts and found someting that works. It's no wonder my car has felt like a dog. It's too busy trying to vomit it's engine out the hood, much less go forwards. My donut gasket is also hosed at the flex pipe causing more power loss.

I'm awaiting a ride so I can get a new donut gasket. Hopefully everything is ok.

a moving front MM can cause that much loss in the go-factor ?

Maybe not, the mount is fixed and I have very little movement now :) I also replaced the very worn ypipe to flexpipe ****** gasket and my car is quieter. The car still feels kinda lazy though. I wonder if something is lurking.

I know it's harder to start from a stop with a broken mount which can feel like a loss in the go-factor.

Throttle response goes to MUSH, and the movement of the motor does rob some energy created by the motor when it flexes so much.

I never thought it would be so evident, until I replaced my soggy stock mounts with my first set of reinforced motor mounts.

Holly cow.... it felt like I picked up 20hp :oogle:

ill second that, my sho had 2 blown motor mounts, and when i replaced them with Shobros reinforced motor mounts, it felt like i did get 20 more hp. It is mainly just the fact that it bites better and pulls a bit harder, so its just the seat of the pants feel that is different. and it takes the stress of your tranny.
