Hello again. I'm noticing a clunk in my front driver side strut area and can not determined what is causing it. I have searched on the fourm and found about where the strut rod meets the sub frame and have checked that and their is no cracks or slop present. It almost sounds like when you hit a big or small bump like a rod/ bolt is jiggeling around or bouncing off of a over sized nut or colar like a pencil in key ring all the extra space to bang around. Don't know if that is a good enough decription of the problem but that's the best information I can give everyone. I'm feeling my strut is shot. Any and all help and criticism welcome :thankyou:

Noise over small bump: gotta check the sway bar link tightness and bushings. I didn't see sbl on the list, but I don't know all my SHO acronyms...:)

Haven't done those in the front yet. Did the back but not front. Have energy suspension polyurethane ones to put in. That makes sense because I have replaced every bushing with new except those ones. Do you think its slapping around down there?

Loose SB end links make noise over the tiniest of bumps, whereas it takes a little more of a bump to get noise from a worn SB bushing, IME.

Both sb endlinks are brand new from autozone. But will double check them. Hand it takes a slight medium to large bump to notice it. Small bumps its almost not noticeable over the engine noise. Sounds like its coming from the rear subframe busing area but those are new and have double checked for looseness and for any rot out, and recall has been done

Did you already go through and check the torque specs on all the suspension components. It could be that something is just loose.

Strut bearing? I have this "clank-pop" when going over bumps and I've checked all my bushings, I mean they're not new and they are a little cracked but otherwise they're still firm and tight. About the only thing left I can really believe it to be is the strut bearings.

Last time I had some time to burn I checked luggs, lower control arm, subframe, strut rod, and outer tire checked for slop. That was it

first thing to check is the strut mounts.

Agreed, had the same issue on both my SHO and my '93 SLO. See if the nuts on the link studs are tight. If you're going to tighten them, put a small jack under the lower control arm and jack it up some so that it's just hanging with the spring fully extended.

Then again, the link could be worn. If you need to replace it (I suggest both at the same time) try and find replacements that have a hex on the link side so you can keep the stud from turning while you tighten the nut. Use a torque wrench! Suspension gets rattled around a lot, so torque values are near as important as during engine and flywheel/clutch work.

Gotcha. Yes will definitely be rechecking everything here in a couple weeks when I have a weekend off. Going to Vegas Sunday for honey moon so I won't be messing with it till the 12th

I had a similar problem. It turned out to be the coil spring rubbing on the plastic inner fender splash guard during compression. Trimmed it back with a razor blade and all better.
