Front control arms boys

hey guys got app tues for front control arms replaced tires and belle tire said my left control arm had a lil play so I called my Machanic he said best to replace both same time what do you guys suggest fair price parts n labor out the door should be any of you guys done this yet thank for all the fee back boyz

Why would you need new control arms? Are they bent?

If you are worried about cost this is one of those things you can do yourself. Alot of us learned to work on cars by necessity. Maintenance stuff can get away from your wallet depending on the age of the car and the issues of the platform. Do not let ignorance and fear of not being able to do it prevent you from trying. In the end you can always pay someone if you can't get it to work

I did this on my FPIS... in case you are thinking about DIYing it (do it!), the ball joint nut under the wheel bearing is a huge pain. The video above made it look easy because they're able to come at it from under the car on a lift and hammer it. It has nylon above the threads, so you should consider using a torch to heat it before trying to get it off.

He is 100% correct, it's just nuts and bolts, yes it may take a little longer to get the job done, but what you save in labor can be spent on something else.

OEM or Mevotech TTX if available for your application would be my suggestion. All other brands tend not to last like OEM does.

definitely don't try to nickel and dime it by only replacing the ball joint. replace the entire assembly.

Replaced front control arms with moog gonna do back when I can also gotta alignment appointment set for Thursday my pockets are hurting but I love this car and control arms are important lol

If you think that's bad just wait. It's a SHO, no matter what year or what configuration, it can eat your wallet. The purchase price is just the initial ante

Someone on here was like maintenance first then Performance that’s a good tip for everyone too I legit coulda been had corsa exhaust lol but I chose maintenance

Only reason you would need a new control arm is if you blew out the hydrobushing (largest bushing at the back of the control arm), as it's not a serviceable bushing.

That said, I replaced my passenger side one a few years back, and it took about 2 hours to do with a 13+. 10-12 is a little more involved, but not bad.

Had to get front alignment also in total I spent 870 labor and parts
