just curious guys i have had nothing but problems with my brakes since i have gotten rid of the stock rotors. the brake pads always hit the rotors now that i have gotten rid of the stock rotors. so i took a die grinder to the pads i put a notch in them. now they dont hit the rotors they just squeak. so the question is where is the best place to get rotors? are oem still available? the squeaking is driving me crazy

OEM rotors for all Tauri all years and all models are available at any auto parts store. I have found O'Reilly's Auto Parts to be the cheapest place to get them.

what year taurus do you have? maybe you have the wrong sized pads,

the squeak is probably the pads too, I would flat sand them at the minum, maybe switch to something else, wagner thermoquiets are pretty good in the noise department. spray the back of the pad with an anti noise spray

I got Akebono ceramics for my wife's 95, and though they aren't the best pad in terms of raw stopping power, they make no noise whatsoever (except for that cool whooooooosh noise when you stomp on them, though I think that's the slotted/dimpled rotors talking) and they don't dust at all. I would recommend those.

As far as rotors go, get the $15 or whatever jobbies from advance auto, they all work just fine. Just make sure you season the rotors and bed the pads right; you have nothing but problems if you don't.
