Kirk had his TC full on. I had underinflated front tires and had my suspension on Tour. I passed him and then he pushed me...on the first few laps of a new track. I had nothing right on any corner and I know he didn't either. I guarantee I didn't have to push as hard the rest of the day as I did with Kirk behind me. But I also guarantee both Kirk and I were running laps 3-4 seconds quicker by the end of the day...

Well Duh, the guy chaseing always has more fun then the guy getting chased :)

What better way to learn a track then whip it as hard as you can in the first few laps! It makes the day much eaiser..

Agree on the tires, after adding 5psi I was much better off and then figureing out the dam advance track stuff was a PITB.. car was saying NO WAY.. I was saying WTF go FASTER!!!!

Glad I figured it out in the end.. that was fun wasnt it! Ill have to keep you contained to a small track, VIR wont be as much fun for me vs you.. lol

I did and will admit losing to James Pappas in the V, I did real well and hung in there for a while but the good years were just no match for his Pilot Sc2's.. the Good Years went away after 4 laps each session and drifting the new car around was fun but not something I wanted to learn on the first day.. :)
Very agile.
So Pappas its 1 to 1.. Just you wait till I add the 200hp and better tires to be in your class of cars! :)

FWIW, the green turd was quicker than Pappas by a sec or two, at least in the sessions I videod.

It's nice to throw out acceleration times and all, but that's easy to do. Actual, documented results are needed. And I don't see 15-20hp getting you .2 seconds on a 4300lb car...

On the avg every 10hp drops about .1 on your ET. When I added a 100hp to my Cobra I went from about 13.4 stock to 12.3, right around .1 per 10hp. On avg every 1lb of boost you can you gain adds about 10hp. For every 100 lbs you drop off a car equals about .1 for you ET or about 10hp. Just works out to be right around those averages.

As for the secondary autocross thread happening here, you could create your own and chat all about it :nut:

You said .2 off of 0-60 didn't you? "My car in the same weather now consistently sprints to 60mph an avg of .2 quicker. "

Weight/hp doesn't have the same affect on time in 0-60 as it does in 1/4.

Not trying to be a d hole..

ok well i'm putting my snorkel back on

back from the 1/4 mile track and i'm .1 or .2 slower

theres way too much heat being sucked in

the noise is awesome for the cool factor but the amount of heat being drawn into the intake is way too much

i would cool off the car and leave the hood open... i'd then turn on the car and drive all the way to the line up, and when i'm about to roll into the lights i would shut the hood

and no matter what i did today it was 14.1 or 14.2 at like 97mph

the last time it was around the same temperature and i was running 14.00 @ 99.979mph

So you guys tell me? my temperture reading for the day without the snorkel the car said it was 26c outside

Basically just using the Mean:
18.3 Degrees C or 64 degrees F this was your best run during this temp, which is premium running temps, especially on a boosted car.

23.9 °C or 75 degrees F That's a temperature swing of 11 degrees (hotter). No matter what car you have, run it in cool 64 degree air and it's going to run great, run it in 75 degree air and it will absolutely be slower. Cold dense air helps it run more efficiently. That's not even taking the max in to account which is a 14 degree swing, you go from running in 70 degree temps to almost mid 80's  that's pretty hot. I'm actually surprised you were so close to your cold weather ET, I would attribute that to having the snorkel removed. I think if you go back and put the snorkel in place, in the heat and I'd be willing to bet you run 14.2-14.3 and lose another 1mph which is close to what my car was running in the hot florida 80-90 degree evenings.

My car in 80 degree weather with the snorkel shows 14.0-14.1 around the same MPH, same 80 degree weather sans snorkel and showed 13.8 just over 100. So it seems the numbers add up for a small improvement. It's not earth shattering but it is a small gain. It was the difference of being 2 cars back on my buddies 135 to only being 1 car back. Noticable and measurable.

Tim, did you run this at Luskville? If so, go elsewhere. That track is shiat.

Go back when it's much colder. The first time I ran a 14 second time in my V8, it was about 9C (45F I believe) and I was stock back then. In the heat of the summer it would easily be a half second slower. I hope your EcoSHOs are not as temperature sensitive.
