Alright I know that this is the sho forum and everyone is bias tword the sho, I am to but I got a buddy getting a 93 stealth rt that needs a tranny and he is telling me that we will race once he gets it fixed and smoke me.

Now honestly does my 94 mtx driven properly have a chance vs this car or am i wasting my time.

Somebody on this forum has had to race one of these at some point.

just curious

Now if on the strip.... I am not too familar with the stealth R/T. If its a turbo I think you will lose. 300HP...IIRC. the N/A one make 225hp so it would be a close race and IMO go to the SHO on the long runs.

If It's a Turbo it will say on the doors "R/T Turbo"

If it is a turbo, it's 320 horses, the 94+ were 6 speed getrags......run mid-high 13's, and off the line they will destroy you (I know!)

If it's a non turbo, they won't beat you off the line (no 315 ft-lb @ 1500 rpm!), and you'll pull. Those motors have pathetic top end power (I know!). At 7000 rpm the turbo cars have almost no power and the non turbo's aren't any better.

I've raced several SOHC ES Stealth's and 3000GT base models at tracks, they are easy to beat. I've only gone against one DOHC 3000GT SL (same as R/T Stealth) and I was starting to pull at the end of the 1/8th pretty well, had about 4 lengths but it was a slushbox. (FYI I ran a 10.5 @ 74 in a 99 SHO) I would guess they're about equal to a Duratec Taurus. I've heard low 15's listed by them but I have yet to see an DOHC N/A 3Si run anywhere close to that.

If you're MTX is stock, the race should be close but i'd put my money on the SHO, especially in the quarter mile. The two cars have relatively the same amount of power but the SHO is better high end and the 6G72 is better mid range. The SHO I believe is quite a bit lighter, i know my friends Stealth R/T turbo and VR-4 are both over 3800 pounds, granted they have AWS, AWD, and a bunch of electrical crap, but even with that removed I don't think it's going to be as light as a Taurus - but I could be wrong.

In any case, they aren't very light cars, so if he's thinking it weighs as much as an eclipse and thinks that's why he can take you, he's in for a rude awakening.

Back in Michigan ... again.
R/T w/o turbos are all show and no go. Classic example of a sheep in wolf's clothing. Have fun humiliating him at the track.

Moved to 1/4 section. Come back after the event and tell us all about the humiliation :)

a turbo stealth/3000gt will smoke the shit out of you, off the line in about 1 second he will be pulling car lengths on you...... while your sitting there spinning/bogging/axle hopping

:)

Alot of people don't realize how heavy these cars were. That was always the knock against them vs other sports cars of the time. On info found at MSN Auto, the R/T was listed at 3373lbs curb weight(w/5sp). The R/T Turbo was over 3800lbs! Many of the so-called sports cars of this time frame(Nissan 300ZX and Toyota Supra) had base models with approx. 220hp, yet weighed over 3300 lbs. That's why so many had to go to turbo or twin-turbo set-ups for their top models. This was one of the surprising features that the SHO offered. It was a 4dr sedan that could provide performance on the same level as these 2+2 Sport models.

If it is a Stealth R/T (With Twin Turbo's!) you are going to get your ass handed to you. From any speed in any gear.

True.

I have a '93 TT Stealth, rated at 300 and 307 STOCK. A race against a stock SHO will not be close.

An R/T (without Turbos) aren't slouches but at the same time they aren't spectacular, I would put money on the SHO on this race, especially from a high RPM roll race!

And the TT cars say Twin Turbo on the doors....

when i raced my friends 93 VR-4 at the track, he literally had probably 6 or 7 lengths on me by the time I hit 20. I think his best time in the VR4 was a 13.2 @ 104, haven't seen what his 94 R/T Turbo w/ 6 speed does though :(

As an owner of both cars, the two cars are very similar in a straight line. A non-turbo Stealth and SHO will be a drivers race. They have similar performance 3.0 DOHC FWD motors and similar curb weights. A twin turbo Stealth will pass the SHO like its parked. The SHO is more of a sleeper. The Stealth isn't as understated.

I should mention that even if it is a twin turbo theres a good chance it will either break before the race or blow up half way down the track. The TTs are pretty and go nice but aren't exactly known for reliability and when the do break oh boy good luck.

Agreed 100%

My dad used to have one. The fastest I ever went on the street was in this car. 150MPH and it was bone stock.
