I have a 2o10 SHO with 98k miles on it. Recently I noticed it started burning oil and had the oil changed. That only made it worse and changed the blue smoke to white. I went to the dealer and had them look at it...
They kept it overnight and called the next afternoon saying the front turbo bearing is worn out, and they would ask Ford if the 100k warranty would cover it. They called back the next day and said that Ford wanted more photos of the car taken apart more before they would approve the repair. The catch: if Ford rejected the repair, I was out $600. I told them to go ahead, since the service rep said he was sure they would cover it.
They called back the next day and said that Ford needed still more photos and the catalytic converter was also full of oil. They called back the next day and said Ford still had not decided yet. This went on for seven days. on the eighth day, they called and said Ford approved the repairs. I was very happy to only pay the deductible. Later that day, they called and said the other turbo is now worn out and they have to start the whole process with Ford over again. On the ninth day, they called and said the second turbo repair is approved, but a tie rod broke when the mechanic was getting at the turbo, and I had to pay for that. They also said I needed four tires and a brake job, but I suspect that they were trying to get more money after such an expensive warranty repair.
So, I paid about $300 for maybe $4000 worth of repairs, and I'm happy about that, but here is my question:
Has anyone ever heard of a Ford policy that requires so many photos that it takes nine days total for these repairs?
