Ford for Safelite for windshield replacment?

Hello all

I took a road bolder to my windshield yesterday and I'm going to have to replace it. Is there any reason to go with Ford vs Safelite for the repair? Is the stock Taurus windshield the same part for SHO or does the SHO require a different part?

took a rock to my harley f250. Had to get it from ford to get the one with the harley logo. Insurance should replace with what you want. Go oem if you can.

Thanks, I'd rather get OEM if possible but my deductible on the windshield is high enought that I'll be buying this one out of pocket. Trying to decide if the extra $125 to get my Ford dealer to put in OEM is worth it. From what I gather the safelite version will be thinner and not have the solar tint that OEM does, so a little louder and a little more heat in the car.

Actually I think I just talked myself into spending an extra $125.

Turns out Safelite used a Ford OEM windshield for my repair afterall.
Best of both worlds, Safelite price and OEM parts.

Do your rain sensing wipers still work? and did you notice any sound difference?

Yup, rain sensing wipers work just fine. They replaced the sensor when they changed the windshield. I haven't noticed any added road noise but I wouldn't expect any as the replacement windshield was identical to the one they replaced, same "sound screen" markings in the driver side lower corner included
