I'd really like my auto-on headlights to function even in broad daylight in my 93 ATX. I tried fooling the light sensor on the dash by covering it up, but that doesn't work, Uncovered, though, the system works as intended, but only when the ambient light is dim enough. Is there another way I can make this system activate whenever I start the car, if there's no good solution to fooling the sensor? Thanks.

How are you covering it. I do it on my '89's with elec. tape on back side of the speaker dash cover as the sensor is under it and it works great. Sensors in a Different place on '93, but should still work if you get it 100% blocked. I've tried it temporarily a couple times on my '93 with a glove or similar up on dash and it's touchy whether it works or not, has to be covered just right. So it should work if you get that sensor 100% blocked from light somehow and with something that lets no light thru to sensor at all.

there are two sensors on the dash - one is the ambient light sensor for the auto on/off headlights, and the other is the sun-load sensor for the climate control system. make sure you are covering the right sensor - it is the one under the little cover, iirc. every single car I have had with that system, if I covered up the sensor the lights would be always on - my guess is you have covered the sun load sensor...
