Since the even firing 60 degree v8 has the cylinder bore pressed in as part of the casting process this leaves me to keep the stock pistons and crankshaft. But that's okay.
The valves however can be taken to a cnc shop to be over bored. However this leaves the split port head. With stock imrc it's a great theory. However the disturbance of the air being split in two after boring the intake out leaves me with the thought of cfm in the head intake ports.
If I were to cnc the heads for an open port style as the Mustang heads are this would be like the icing on the cake to the bored intake.
Then the lower intake manifold (or imrc manifold) would also need to be bored out to acomodate the bored heads. Plus the t.b. needs to be 80mm to match the m.a.f.

The reason for this is to not only increase high end hp and tq but to allow ample air in and out of the motor. As in some point in time it will breathe as it once was intended.
However to compensate for the low end I'll need to adjust the transmission gear ratio for faster acceleration. Mabey my top speed drops a little but it would be OK due to the fact it would launch a little faster.

Because if we think about it... the block was not the things detuned. The 3.4 stroke is the same as the concept and they slapped weight on our car unlike the xoncept. Changed ratios. And gave us a terrible intake and exaust setup. The s.a.I. is a cappy design and the hose gets clogged with dirt anyways which hiders the cars preformance. We received a loaded down camshaft moving a water pump underneath the sho cover. And then left us with a computer module running like a geo. Now this isn't a diss on our cars because I love my SHO but I'm nit picking because I'm jealous od the concept version of our cars :)

Concept version of cars don't have to hold up to mfg warranty and to a much lesser degree fleet mpg. Every concept car that manages to get to actual production gets redone to minimize mfg cost/warranty/reliability issues.

Stock tb is 80 mm, but can be taken out with a bore! 85 mm or more! I might have a bored out sitting

And I may need to take it off your hands lol :)
I didn't even think of the head gasket issue.. yet alone one that is well modded. That would be a compression and collant issue from he'll. So mabey I'll have to look into the 4.6 b heads and see what I'm getting into.
What cams did you use?
How much of a p.I.t.a was the timing?

OK, hear me out here. The Yamaha motor is awesome. However, the modular V8 out of the Continental will bolt right into the Taurus. Then you have the aluminum 4.6 in there already. And there is a lot of performance parts for that. I am contemplating stealing a circa 2000 Lincoln InTech motor and stuffing it into a Gen 4 Taurus. And then maybe steal all the goodies off of a Terminator Cobra.

Now we're talking man. I didn't think that it was a direct fit....

It's is something that is interesting.. and very well may be what I am looking for.

I take it that you or you know someone that has done this before. So if I may ask a few questions...

Did you need a stand alone ecm or since both the continental has the ax4n.. wound the comp from that work in the taurus??

All in all... 150 bucks for a v8 at the pull yard here... what do I need to get?

As direct as shoving a modular V8 into a Taurus can be. I have not done it. I just read about it. Google is your friend, as it was mine.

SHOrt story from what I remember. Basically, the Continental is the same platform. So the subframe and the like are shared. Basically, the guy shoved it into a 4th Gen. He commented how much just bolted up. Mounts, exhaust, radiator tranny and the like all slotted in, and fit. No cutting required. It was even a tighter fit than the SHO motor is, but it all slotted in. Since he did not start with a SHO, he used the Lincoln harness. Again, he said since it is the same basic platform, it all just wired in. He used the Lincoln radiator for more clearance if I remember. The transmissions are the same and as such, that just dropped in too.

It is above my pay grade, but not unattainable by a competent mechanic. Do some research beyond the 10 minutes I did. I think you will find it doable.
