Hello all, I have a 1989 SHO that needs fog lights. There were none when I bought it. I bought some fog light brackets on this site and will be buying some cheap lights at Wally's. My main trouble is I can't find the harness connecting to the lights. The switch is there and the little light comes on when it's operated but I can't find the harness that connects to the fog lights. Can someone post a jpeg or explain where this harness hides?

Thanx

:thankyou:

There should be two plugs hanging down somewhere between the core support and bumper. They come off the harness that runs above the radiator and feeds the headlights, etc.

I have done some searching on this and have read that a relayis suggested , which I'll probably do.For now I want to make sure the harness is intact and hasn't been cut out by the previous owner.

Thanks to all who replied
:thankyou:

The stock wiring on the 89 is the worst of all years... literally! I would go ahead and replace it & install a fused relay, you'll thank yourself for it. There has to be a few threads on this forum related to doing this, I posted in this on http://www.officialshocal.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=777&start=0 hope it helps.

Eh?

The headlamp/foglamp Wiring harness in the '89 SHO is no different than that of any other Gen 1.

And that thread you posted a link to has nothing to do with fog lamps OR gen 1 SHOs

Are you sure... 90 & 91 SHOs are different than the 89 in many ways. The 89 SHO has a lot of 89 only parts so sometimes its even harder to find parts for it, and I linked him to that page so he can see how to wire up a relay.

Like what??

All parts, with the exception of interior items, and a few others are the same as every other gen 1.

The harness is the same.

Well...wasn't that fun?

OK.I found some time to do more exploring and have found the (partial ) harness. The drawing on Mitchell is not quite right. The switch itself has 4 wires not like the 3 shown. That 4th wire allows for a dash light and a switched fog light lamp to work. Still mine does not have the relay ( I'll be putting one in when the foglights are done). The relay was used starting in 1990 according to Mitchell online drawingsThe wires go through the firewall and into a small round connector (unplugged for clarity).
In turn that goes to a larger flat multi wire connector which has nothing plugged into it. So there it is,mystery solved. Although I had to take the switch apart to get it to work (numerous times!). I'll be looking for a new switch soon. Thanks for all your help.! Hopefully this will may help someone else who owns a 1989 SHO!

What? ******* in a twist?

As I said, the headlamp/fog harness is the SAME. This is the harness that plugs into the round connector shown in *****'s first photo.

As ***** has found the only difference... the relay ('90 or '91 on). This is located under the dash. And has nothing to do with the FOG LAMP HARNESS that plugs into the main chassis harness.

You still are not reading what I am typing.

As I said.... and said AGAIN.

The fog lamp harness is the same.

The relay is not part of the fog lamp harness, it is part of the chassis harness.
