so ford made a flex fuel taurus. could our cars make more power if we did a flex fuel conversion and ran ethanol. with a much better fuel system.

From my understanding pretty much any car would be capable of more power as ethanol has more oxygen in it. However, it typically requires more fuel to make the power. Kind of the same concept as adding NOx, but safer in some respects.

you'd need to talk with your tuner or one specializing in the V8 SHO platform. I'm sure it's possible, but I know with the Mustangs of the same generation it required upgraded injectors, fuel lines to support ethanol, and an in-tank fuel pump upgrade with a voltage booster.

Flex fuel itself wouldn't be possible since your ECM doesn't have the correct logic to do so, but tuning for E85 may be possible.

Defintely need bigger injector and fuel pump upgrade. Possibly upgrade of rails to support larger volume.

As FiveLeeter918 mentioned with any upgrade like this you have to get it tuned. Your ECU isn't going to understand the additional fuel (O2) and may react like its getting unmetered air. Your base mappings will need to be updated. This can be done with a Wide Band O2 as well as the stock. You just need to understand how to interpret the readings. Unless someone has done the ground work this is best done by a tuner withba Dyno to get acurate and safe results.
