Flat Spotted Cams

Last month, when I did my valve cover gaskets and spark plug tube seals, I noticed the dreaded flat spotted cams. As it says in the sig, she's a 90, with 128k on it. I bought it at 116k. Obviously no top end 60k has been done.

Now my question is this. She runs just fine (as it should), but are the cams 'SHOT'??? If/When I get the top end done, will the new shims suffice? or will the cams just tear'em up??

I've never heard of the "dreaded flat spotted cams." Do you mean wear of the cam lobe tips? Did it look like this?

yes sir it did....sorry I'm not a very descriptive person

I don't know what the shims looked like....didn't really pay attention. I saw the lobes and didn't really wanna know...

No, the cams won't tear the shims up. I'd just run them until you are ready to send them to ShoShop as cores for stage 1 cams. It would be a good idea to replace all the shims with new when you get your top end done.
