I have an '89 SHO, I got a great deal on it, drove it about 10 miles to the local gas station and accidentally put 87 octane in it. I think that part is not related but I'm not sure. It died 3 blocks later. I changed the ign. conrol mod., coil pack, ect sensor, fuel filter(even at 45psi), body control mod on radiator support, map sensor, maf sensor. After the first few times it died I push started the car and it fired right up and ran great. most of the time I could turn it off and it would start with the key. but then it died while driving 40 mph like before. It pops and sputters like low fuel and it wants to run but won't, now it won't even push start.Spark seems a little weak but I might be reading too much into that. No codes came up with my Matco scanner. I am thinking crank sensor but I am hoping for a more solid answer if possible. Any suggestions are appreciated!:fit:

:stupid: i only read part of your post and came to the same conclusion. may as well change your leaky water pump while you're in there.

It sounds like the typical crank sensor symptoms, except that generally there is no spark at all.... I would change the crank sensor, possibly the timing belt and seals while I was at it, and also the water pump if there is any indication that its been leaking even a tiny amount.

please scan your codes again before you continue throwing parts at your car.
FYI SHO's run fine on 87,save your money. In fact my best trap times at the track have been recorded using 87,some of the best N/A times documented.

On several of my cars, I've had these types of issues and no codes were present - so don't be surprised if you don't get any. But it is always worth checking before you start replacing stuff.....

Probably water pump leaking onto crank sensor. Sounds like the car needs a good 60K maintenance.
