Took delivery of a triple black SHO with 402A exactly 2 weeks ago. After a few days started making a groaning noise, pretty loud inside the car, but not at all outside the car, on accel and decel at around 1250-1750 RPM. This was either moving or stationary. Brought it in last week, dealer heard it, agreed it was a problem, could not find or solve it though. Does not seem to affect performance at all. Yesterday brought it back in at their request and they had a Ford SHO engineer on hand to help out. Diagnosed a fuel line rubbing up and vibrating against the underbody, so they wrapped the line with insulation. So I can still hear the noise if I listen hard and everything else is dead quiet, but I guess thats the fix. All in all, a minor problem. Anyway, if y'all hear a noise like that in your new SHO, now ya know! I am loving driving this thing. Traded in a 2008 G35S and the SHO feels so much more solid, better steering & handling, great road feel, brakes need help. 14" rotors and big azz calipers please.

Had a similar problem on a 93 Topaz, fuel line would vibrate around 1600, hit the underbody and make all kinds of racket.

If that is really what it was I think a dealership should be embarrassed they needed help to find it. I found that source on the Topaz in less than 10 minutes with the car on ramps at the farm and me on a creeper with someone holding the revs where they needed to be to make the noise.

I can just see this in 15 years:

<Noob> I just bought an old 2010' SHO and it's fun to drive!

<Forum Guy> Make sure you check the floorpan for the gas line rub issue...

<Other Forum Guy>Yeah, that stupid gas line! Should be the first thing you check when you buy a 2010!

In all seriousness, I bet it was just a defect on your specific car. I'm sure Ford would have caught this on their test mules if it was at all a common problem. Glad you got it sorted out.

Yup, its all good now. Engineer said they are adding this fuel line insulation to the new ones on the line. After driving it for a day, I think it actually worked and the noise is gone

Just like the cam issue in Gen III's... That's why I told my mom to wait to get hers next so they can work out the kinks.

Hello, I am new to this forum and recently (two weeks ago) bought the new SHO. After reading this thread, and driving my car today at the rpm's stated I do notice a slight humming sound and then when out of that range it goes away. It is not very loud, but I can faintly hear it. So I guess I have this issue as well.

Goose, you said this was fuel line problem. Can you describe where this fuel line in located at on the car? Just wondering to help guide the dealer to exactly where the problem is for a quick fix. Thanks for posting.
