Hey everyone, I'm not really sure where to ask this and you don't have to give exact prices if you don't want to but I was just wondering what you guys pay a month for insurance, or think this quote is too high. I just did a quote for my 1989 and it was $401.00. I pay $300.00 a month on my v8 sho a month with full coverage. Is this extreamliy high, or to be expected? This being my favorite car I was a little disappointed when I found out how much its going to be because I don't think I can afford it now. Thanks guys
:thankyou:

I pay less than 400 a year! either you have a bad driving record or you should keep looking for other options.

You must be young.
I pay just under $140 per year with comp and collision.
Mine are classic tagged so that helps.

It would be under my dads name and he has all these military discounts from usaa and hes only had 1 accident and no tickets. usaa has always been amazing on prices so i think this may be a glitch or something. Im in the military too (usaa) and i have a scooter, its only $100 a year for a brand new scooter for me so I did a quote and was in shock.

I pay about $1800 per year for all my cars. Full coverage on my wife's truck, full coverage on her mustang, liability and comp on my 94 sho, 91 sho, and 00 GTI, and full coverage "collectors" insurance on my Z28. I'm guessing you're pretty young? I would never pay 300 or 400 bucks a month for insurance for a Taurus. I think I'd buy a bus pass! Don't be afraid to shop around for insurance. Every year I get quotes from 2 or 3 insurance agents to see if I can save a little money.

The 400 dollar quote must have been for 6 months. Simply no reason for a 21 yr old car that is worth under $2000 blue book value to cost you nearly $5000 a year.

Not about what the car is worth, it's about the legal and medical costs if you crash into a little old lady or something.

I'm 22 and I used to pay $130 a month for my SHO, no comprehensive. I now pay $160 a month for SHO + Contour, again, no comprehensive.

Yeah I'm thinking the $400 was for more than just one month. We've got USAA and it's not even that for all four cars per month.

if he's young and has made claims in the past, I could see that.

OP have you been in an wreck in the past that was ruled your fault?

I've never gotten a ticket or had an accident. My father whos usaa account i was using has only had one accident (he rolled my moms camry now she has the brand new pile of shit). I went my usaa acount and the cost was $72.82, so I'm pretty sure somethings wrong. My dads 52 and the car would've been insured under his name (for the cheaper price) and im 18 and its that much cheaper so I have no idea. We also have a new camry a new explorer a 97 wrangler a 98 sho and a 96 camaro on here so adding a 6th car may skyrocket it

It depends heavily on where you live- I know RI is compact and premiums are very high.

I have an excellent driving record, my girls is ok, and with three cars Im still paying over 1300. But its worth its weight in gold not having to deal with the inspection crap.

Yeah, something's up. I was 19yrs old on my Dads insurance and it was 300 per month. I had tickets too.

But that was full coverage on a 1997 Jetta TDi AND a 2003 Mustang GT!

Now I'm 25 and pay $90 per month for two cars (minimum coverage) with my GF on the policy too.

That is high. Im 22 in New York with 2 moving violations in the last year (speeding reduced to failure to obey traffic control device) and my insurance is $190 a month for FULL coverage on my 95 SHO and 08 Impreza. Its nice having the free glass replacement around here.
