Does anyone know where these cables can be purchased. Mine snapped on the inside. I am thinking about retro-fitting a cable from summit racing (B&M Shifter Cable) and cutting/fashioning the stock ends onto it. I called a stealer and they said if the part wasn't OBSOLETE it would be $300. It's the cable with the socket on one end, and the square with a circle on the other end.

Was it the ends that broke or the cable itself? Generally it's the ends that brake, and we have them here: SHO Source

If its the cable itself, I am sure we can get you a used one.

I appreciate your fast response, everyone is so helpful around here, which made me start writing How-To's for problems I've encountered. The actual cable itself snapped, it was really weird, considering it's steel cables wrapped with a steel coil. It broke inside the sheath about 7 inches in from where the rod ends on the shifter side. I can put pics on here later. If possible, I would like to find a replacement.
Thanks.

Sure, if the price is right, I wouldn't mind keeping it stock. How much would you be thinking? If you would like we can do a PM on the matter. Thanks again :)

A good working cable shifter is a beautiful thing.
Get a good used one from this forum or SHOsource as a lot of people remove them to put in the rod shifter. My best shifting SHO is my 90 with the cable shifter, but I was lucky enought to buy them new when the SHOshop was still selling them, and yes, they were expensive, around what the dealer told you.
The companies that rebuild aircraft would be able to rebuild your unit with aircraft quality stainless cable, but that would require an internet search, and they might need a drawing or a functioning unit to start with to get the length correct.

I'm working with a forum member to get a used cable, but in my quest I've contacted a company that will rebuild cables. You can send the cable into them for specs, but they can't quote until they have the cable. http://www.push-pull.com California Push-Pull Inc. I also found Tyler Madison Inc. but I didn't e-mail them yet.
