My SHO was at the dealer for 2 days having a few pesky issues addressed. (Most which never got completed). The 1 thing that was fixed was the sunshade, really wasn't fixed.

So off today back to the dealer today. As I'm leaving the dealer today I notice what I thought was a grease smudge dead center on in the rear bumper fascia. Unfortunately it wasn't a smudge it was a crack. Somehow the bumper met impact.

The dealer says they did'nt do it. I KNOW I DIDN'T do it. However I accepted the car last night w/o looking it over. The only place it has been today before the dealer was one parking lot, where I backed into a slot with a grass field behind it.

The dealer who I have a great relationship said they would fix it. I even offered to help chip in for it as I couldn't prove it was there when I picked it up.

But the more I think about it I realize there is no way it could have happened in my possession. I also know the mechanic took it to lunch on Wed. Just one more thing that makes assured it happened there.

Not very happy

they should not be driving their car for their personal trips? I would not be very happy either. you wouldn't want your house painters sleeping over at your house while you are away. big no no.

depends on WHY he took it to lunch. Trouble shooting one of the minor issues or just cause it was the nearest set of keys ?

for that matter he could have taken it to lunch to be able to compare it to a DIFFERENT customer car, say for example some other guy has the same car and is complaining about a phantom vibration.

Sorry to say but one limited production car on the lot sometimes HAS to be the comparison for another thats in for repairs. If YOUR car was the one with a drivability problem you wouldnt care of 5 other customer cars were driven as a comparison.

i once had a customer who flipped his car into a ditch write down his mileage and how much was in his tank when he dropped the thing off. Said he expected no more them 10 miles on it when he got it back.

hahahahahaha, yea right

We put 50+ on it. Drove it to and from the frame shop twice, fixed most of the car, test drove it, found a vibration and fixed it, test drove it again. And we took it to lunch once too. because it sat 4 and that ment 4 people to spot any noises / vibration / rattles. AND we put gas in it.

you guys put 56 miles on my car!
-Sir, is there a problem with your car
well ... no ... but ...
-thats cause we test drove until we ran out of things that needed fixing
oh ... well .... um ....**walks away**

point taken, but I was just under the impression that he took it for his personal use and not to test drive it, that is a different situation.

I'm not sure why he took it to lunch, nor do I really care. I care thou about the deep scratch and signs of impact on my pearl white bumper.

My heart and my gut tells me I'm 99.9% positive it happened in their custody. But there was that 60 minutes it was parked by me in a parking lot.

But again it was backed into a slot with a grass field behind it.

It happened at the dealership, quit wondering about it. The dealer personnel should have come clean (they know who they are), so there goes the trust element.
I guess you have to look it over the same way you do a rental vehicle when you pick it up after it has been out of your care.
It is nice that they are fixing it, but your relationship with the dealership will never be the same.
Too bad, but it sure is a wake up call

who says any of the dealer employees even saw it ? were not talking about a control arm being ripped off here, its a small mark on a bumper. shit happens.

And sure it happened at the dealership, but even that doesnt mean that a dealer employee did it. Ive seen body shop customers unload their totaled cars and wind up dragging something across the $60k car next to them w/o even noticing.
