Finally got my 60K finished, which I started in June. I had the manifold and VC's PCed and didn't tape anything off which was really, really stupid on my part. Anyways, I put the manifold back together and it wouldn't fit on the heads(locating pin holes full of powder). so we cleaned those out, tapped the left rear stud hole, and I ran the DIS screws in about 5 times. Put it all back together and it'll crank but won't start. Pulled a wire to check and we have no spark. I think it's the DIS isn't getting grounded. For a temp fix can you run wires from the screws to either the strap in back or the neg. side of the battery(using connectors)?

On a side note, chiltons says the wires are in the wrong spot????

Also after I soaked my TB and the spring assembly in chem dip, my gas pedal still seems really stiff. Anyone???

Yes, you can temporarily ground the DIS with a separate wire if needed to ensure it's grounded. Eventually you're going to need to grind off all the coating from all the ground path points. If you put your entire TB in the chem dip, you probably melted the plastic parts that control the TPS. The plug wires should be routed as in this picture:

The DIS mount should not have powdercoat on it - It is preferable to have bare metal. Also, the L-shaped bracket on the corner of the intake, along with its corresponding mating surfaces on the crossover tube and rear end tank need to be bare metal in order to complete the ground path from the DIS back to the rear manifold support.

I think I just found my problem. That entire thing as well as the bolts are powder coated.

I took all of it apart except for the spring assembly. I'm not that dumb! :)
